another piece of the puzzle

Last week, I got two sets of interesting test results back.

First, on wednesday, I got the results of my gluten intolerance testing. And the answer is: inconclusive, but positive for Leaky Gut Syndrome, which can be a symptom of gluten intolerance. I was also positive for candida (yeast) in my intestines (haven't yet figured out what I'm going to do about that). The naturopath I saw suggested that if I wanted to confirm the gluten intolerance, I eat something with gluten in it and see how I feel. Well, I did just that, and was sick for the rest of the day, so I guess I'll stick with this gluten free thing.

Then, on Friday, I got the results of my repeat prolactin test from my RE's office. And the results were not good. Last time, it came back at 31. This time, after fasting (which is supposed to help) it came back at 38. Normal is under 25.

Crap.

Luckily, this is easily corrected with medication, so I'm taking yet another pill.

Initial consultation with Dr. Google tells me that both leaky gut syndrome and high prolactin levels can play a role in miscarriages, particularly in recurrent pregnancy loss.

I want to be hopeful that with these extra pieces of the puzzle figured out, I can carry a baby.

I try to train my mind to think positive thoughts.

Underneath, though, the true current of my thoughts chants "Antiphospholipid antibodies. Rh negative. Leaky gut. High prolactin. Aging ovaries. Not meant to be a mom."

  1. If you want to be a mom you are meant to be a mom. You will get there one way or another. I have a small b-day package on it's way to you!

  2. I know how hard it can be to think positive, but in some ways, the more things that they find wrong with you, the more things they can fix that might be affecting your chances of carrying to term. Right? Right? **crickets**

But in all seriousness, the fact that you keep getting pregnant makes me think that you're MEANT to have a baby. (Easy for an outsider to say, right?) I'm keeping my hopes up for you.

  3. Everything they find makes you closer to becoming a mom because they can fix these things and treat them. Don't give up hope yet *hugs*

  4. Geez. Tough test results. I know it sucks, bu at least the test results have revealed that medication might be able to control your issues and increase your ability to carry that baby. I am hoping that this new prolactin medication will be just the ticket to you bringing home a baby!

  5. I know the results aren't great, but it's good to find answers, you know? I am always happy when I get something that fills in the puzzle. Most identified problems can be treated. Hardest part is being diagnosed sometimes. Try to stay positive. :)

  6. Hey sweetie
More like "Amazing person. Survivor. Stronger than she knows and courageous. Will get her dream someday, she just doesn't know how or when yet." I know how hard it can be not to stack all the evidence up that is against you-trust me, I do this a lot. I hope taking the pills corrects the prolaction quickly and don't worry about the leaky gut. If if you can, talk to your acupuncturist or a naturopath, as I believe it can be easily fixed (but not an expert!) Take care (((HUGS)))

  7. As bad as a leaky gut sounds, I really am happy you are getting some answers. And I second what AnxiousMummy is saying.
